Keep the Faith – You Can Do It! Tiny Bite Size Pieces – That’s the Key to Regaining your Health!

On to this week’s goal: Throw a Health & Wellness Party!

As I have mentioned before, recovering from chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia is all about learning how to nurture yourself – on all levels – mind, body, and spirit. And, having a “Wellness Party” is one way of creating a connection with your friends and family, learning that you have something to offer others, while also generating a powerful healing energy that can be received by all in the group!

Eager friends and family

What is involved in creating a Wellness Party?

  1. First, don’t stress out about planning a Wellness Party. This is meant to be a fun and healing event for all involved. The first thing you can do is ask one or more of your friends and family to help you put it together. Don’t try to make it too big, it might overwhelm you. Just think of a few nurturing folks, and then, ask for help. Hold the intention of fun and healing for all involved!
  2. At a Wellness Party, the idea is to create a peaceful and healing environment for the group and then practice some of your mind-body-spirit wellness techniques that we have learning. The healing energy generated is very powerful and you can definitely feel the difference.
  3. I might suggest having one of the attendees put in charge of making a healthy juice or smoothie to bring for guests to nourish themselves. Check out my Blog Series 6 for ideas there.
  4. Put some candles around your wellness room, get some comfy pillows, line up some soothing meditation and healing music. To keep your stress level low, ask someone to be in charge of creating this healing ambience.
  5. When your guests arrive, have someone pour everyone a healthy drink and head to your healing area.
  6. I suggest printing out some of the exercises that we have been learning in this blog series. Then give one exercise to each person. Have them read it and you can explain what you’ve been doing to heal yourself to the group. Then have the group try the exercises. You can rotate through the exercises, having a different person lead each one.
  7. Experiment with different healing exercises. Let people suggest their own holistic healing ideas. Try them out. Most importantly, have some healing fun! The power of healing energy is magnified dramatically by utilizing the synergy of a group focused on a goal.

Peace of mind.

As a Special Bonus for your Wellness Party:

Here is a link to one of my favorite guided healing visualizations. It’s called the “Meadow of Healing Guided Journey.” Have one guest read it for everyone, or better yet, record it first, and then simply play it for the group. I will be making an audio mp3 of this guided visualization in the near future and will announce it when it is available for download.

I told you we will take things one tiny step at a time, and so, for this week,

Peace of mind.

On to this week’s goal: Stress Relief Techniques!

As I have mentioned before, recovering from chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia is all about learning how to nurture yourself – on all levels – mind, body, and spirit.

In order to heal from chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia, it is critical to learn how to release your stress and any trapped or stagnant energy in your body-mind-spirit. In previous blog series 2 through 4, I’ve introduced creating a private healing space, abdominal breathing, and healing with color. This week I’m going to introduce a powerful healing technique to help you release stress, stuck and stagnant energy from your body, mind, and spirit. I call this the Slate Board Healing Technique.

Blank Slate with woman image

While you are learning this technique, it is best to practice in your private healing space or out in nature, so that you can easily focus completely on the task at hand – healing you!

  1. Sit down and get comfortable. You can put on some quiet soothing music, but nothing that will distract you from your healing session.
  2. Begin your abdominal breathing (learned in blog series 3) and clear your mind. Let any worries or concerns fall away, flowing down your body and into the ground. Just spend a few minutes, releasing and imagine that you have a strong connection to the Mother Earth that absorbs all your negative energy easily. Anything you want to release just let it go and the Mother Earth happily receives it as her food. We have a symbiotic relationship with the earth, our negative energy is her nourishment.
  3. Next, imagine in your mind’s eye that there is a blank slate or empty white chalkboard floating in front of you. Once you can see it floating before you, imagine that there is an outline image of your body that appears on your slate board. This is an energetic representation of you.
  4. Now, form the intention that any stress or negative energy that is trapped or present in your body will appear as a dark color in the outline image of yourself. As you form this intention, dark areas may begin to appear within or around your outline image. These are areas that represent stagnant negative energy that can be from injury, illness, stress and emotional or spiritual upset.
  5. Once your image settles, imagine that a waterfall of healing green light energy flows into you from the top of your head down towards your feet. It flows into every cell in your body, healing and transmuting the negative energy within you. It also flows around your image soaking into your entire aura. Take your time and imagine the green energy waterfall cleansing and renewing your entire body and your aura surrounding you.
  6. Your next step is to imagine that the waterfall slowly turns to a pleasing shade of purple, such as lavender deepening to violet. This color brings peace and calm to the body-mind-spirit trinity and also wraps you in a protective cocoon. Allow yourself to absorb this energetic gift for as long as you want.
  7. Lastly, imagine the violet waterfall begins to flow pink as it washes over through and into your aura, body, mind, and spirit. Pink is the color of love, compassion, healing and connection to the All of the Universe. You are nurturing, loving, and healing yourself on all levels. Allow yourself to receive this gift, you are worthy and deserving of health and wellness.
  8. Allow yourself to feel gratitude and appreciation for your healing as you imagine your slate board fading out. Continue your abdominal breathing as you gradually bring your awareness back to the physical plane, where you are now physically – in your private healing place, in nature, or wherever. Great job!

You can use the Slate Board Healing Technique as often as you like, the more, the better. Our thoughts and intentions are powerful energy healing tools. We are energetic beings and we can affect our state of health using these tools. Consider that healing visualizations represent directives that we can use to program our body-mind-spirit. Colors are also an energy vibration and can be used as powerful healing tools. You have the power to heal yourself! I did, you can too!

  2. Your goal is to practice the Slate Board Healing Technique once a day. You can do it when you spend some time in your private healing place, when you are out in nature, or wherever you are alone in a comfortable place.
  3. Your second goal is to do something that allows you to move your body, once a day. This can be a walk, Qigong, Tai Chi, stretching, or other exercise. If you are not able to move your body, you can imagine that you are. Movement heals, even movement that is done in your mind.

Ok, that is your holistic healing assignment for this week. If you can’t do everything, that’s ok, just do what you can and every day try to just a little bit more. On to this week’s goal: More Food Healing Treasures!

veggie-rainbow

As I have mentioned before, recovering from chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia is all about learning how to nurture yourself – on all levels – mind, body, and spirit.

On the physical level, we need the proper nutrients to survive and thrive, and the powerful medicinal phytochemicals found in fresh produce will speed your recovery. I really want you to start looking at your food as a healing gift from Mother Nature. There are simple habits you can adopt to receive the most nutrition and healing phytochemicals from your food.

  1. Generate a feeling of appreciation and gratitude for your food and its benefits, while you’re eating. You may be surprised at how this helps you. In a state of gratitude, your body relaxes, stress falls away, and every system in your body, including digestion, functions more efficiently. Also, your emotions have an electromagnetic signature that affects the water molecules in your food. Positive emotions, thoughts, and intentions align the molecules in water to form beautiful snowflake patterns. Negative emotions, thoughts, and intentions create ugly, chaotic patterns.
  2. It is imperative that you chew your food into oblivion. One reason is that most phytochemicals are locked within the fibers of the produce and aren’t released unless we pulverize our food. That’s not the job description of our stomach, but rather our teeth. Most people don’t realize that digestion begins in the mouth. And, chewing thoroughly removes a huge burden from our stomach and intestines and allows our bodies the chance to absorb the most nutrition and phytochemicals.
  3. In the same vein as above, cut all your food into tiny pieces before you even put them in your mouth. This will aid you before you even begin chewing.
  4. Take your time when you eat. Even if you only have five minutes, eat a small amount to match the time you have. So, you can create a leisurely atmosphere with a small portion and get more holistic health bang for your buck.
  5. It is best to eat small meals, three times a day. This helps to relieve the energy burden of digesting a large meal all at once, since energy is a commodity in very short supply with CFS.
  6. In order to get the necessary variety of nutritional elements try to eat a range of foods that encompass the entire rainbow of colors.
  7. I can’t say enough good things about seaweed. Please eat it every day. All kinds of seaweeds are nutritional and phytochemical powerhouses. They contain a vast array of minerals such as calcium, copper, iodine, iron, magnesium, manganese, molybdenum, phosphorus, potassium, selenium, vanadium and zinc. Sea vegetables also provide a potent array of vitamins, including B vitamins A, E, C and K.  The nutrients in sea vegetables make them useful for maintaining good health and for fighting disease. Seaweed is rich in phytonutrients, including sulfated polysaccharides that are known to have significant anti-inflammatory, antiviral and cardiovascular benefits.

Medicinal Juices

The Benefits of Healthy Smoothies and Juicing

Massive amounts of nutrition and phytonutrients are required, and therefore I recommend juicing and smoothies to everyone healing from chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia. They are a dense source of nutrition and healing phytochemicals. For juicing, I recommend using a twin-gear juicer that extracts almost all of the vitamins and minerals from the juiced food items. The bladed juicers are next to worthless as they typically leave most of the nutrition behind in the pulp and also heat the juice and damage the nutrients. For a blender to make smoothies, I recommend the Vitamix, or if your budget is not big enough, then a Nutribullet will do a passable job.

Once you get into a rhythm with juicing and smoothies, you will quickly notice improvements in energy, cognitive abilities, sleep, and more. The juices and smoothies are naturally chelating and will cleanse any toxic heavy metals out of the body over time.

An important point to note about creating healthy juices and smoothies is that they should be comprised of about 85-90% of vegetables with the small remainder made up of fruit. A pure fruit juice or smoothie is a diabetic sugar bomb and should be avoided.

Sugar Bomb

I will provide you with a sample healthy smoothie recipe and a juice recipe to get you started. I call this smoothie recipe – “Champion.” You will certainly feel the boost when you drink it. The ingredients listed are measured as dry weight. Put them in your blender and blend until smooth and creamy. Use all organic ingredients. To make it thinner add more water, or thicker – add more avocado.

  1. Red Beet – 2 oz.
  2. Spinach – 1 oz.
  3. Kale – 1 oz.
  4. Cucumber – 3.5 oz.
  5. Carrot – 3 oz.
  6. Goji Berries – ½ oz.
  7. Celery – 2.5 oz.
  8. Apple – 5 oz.
  9. Almonds – ¼ cup
  10. Cinnamon – 1 tsp.
  11. Avocado – 1/4 of medium sized whole one
  12. Lime – ¼ of whole one
  13. Ginger – ¼” thick by ¾” long
  14. Filtered Water or Distilled Water – 1 ¼ cup
  15. Ice Cubes – 6-8 cubes

The juice recipe I’m about to share with you I call the “Vitality Juice.” It is loaded with medicinal and nutritional goodness.  Again, please use a twin-gear juicer – I use the Green Star 2000 – and not a bladed, shredding juicer (you’re better off only blending smoothies and not juicing, if you have this kind of juicer).

Red Beet – 2 oz. of juice produced from 4 oz. dry weight
Dandelion Greens – 2 oz. of juice produced from 3.5 oz. dry weight
Cucumber – 3 oz. juice produced from 3.5 oz. dry weight
Parsley – 1 oz. juice produced from 2.5 oz. dry weight
Celery – 3 oz. juice produced from 5 oz. dry weight
Spinach – 2 oz. juice produced from 3 oz. dry weight
Carrots – 2 oz. juice produced from 3.5 oz. dry weight
Apple – 1 oz. juice produced from 2 oz. dry weight
Yam – 1 oz. juice produced from 2 oz. dry weight

I told you we will take things one tiny step at a time, and so, for this week, here are more additions to your wellness plan.

Wellness Assignment #6:  Healthy Smoothies and Juices Rock!

Green vegetable smoothie

Every Day:

  1. Continue doing everything that was taught in wellness assignments 1-5. If you need to review them, here are their links:
    1. Series 1 Blog
    2. Series 2 Blog
    3. Series 3 Blog
    4. Series 4 Blog
    5. Series 5 Blog
  2. I would like you to start incorporating healthy smoothies and/or “Vitality” juice into your diet. If you are able to get a twin-geared juicer, then have at least one “Vitality” juice a week. If you can’t get the right juicer, then stick with smoothies.
  3. Start off with the goal of having at least 1 healthy smoothie a week. And, work up to having them five times a week. Try to make it a daily diet habit. They are fast and easy to make, and loaded with good stuff for you.
  4. Eat a piece of seaweed every day. Experiment with different kinds and see what you like. There are tasty roasted seaweed sheets with a touch of sesame oil that are quite delicious. You can put seaweed on your salads, in soups (kombu can be used in place of corn starch to thicken soup), snack munching, the sky is the limit.
  5. Also, add have a handful of nuts and seeds every day. They contain good fats, minerals, phytochemicals and are high in protein. Walnuts, almonds, brazil nuts, macadamia nuts, cashews – all raw, organic – not roasted. And, NO PEANUTS – they have an unhealthy fungus that will strain your already strained immune system. Great seeds are sunflower and pumpkin seeds.

Ok, that is your holistic healing assignment for this week. If you can’t do everything, that’s ok, just do what you can and every day try to just a little bit more. Next blog, we will continue tweaking our daily routine. Take it one small, manageable step at a time and you will be able to heal yourself!
